Man ‘gored’ by pig, teenager with marine sting at Gladstone

Paramedics have treated a man after he was attacked by one of his pigs while a female teenager presented with a marine sting in the same Queensland region. DETAILS.

A man was gored by his pig at a Gladstone region property.

A man was “gored” by a pig at his farm in the Gladstone region early on Saturday morning.

The man, in his 60s, was feeding his pigs at his O’Connell property, a rural suburb in South Gladstone, at around 5.30am when one “went a little bit crazy” and gored his arm, a Queensland Ambulance Spokesperson said.

Paramedics treated the man for the laceration on his arm and he was taken in an ambulance in a stable condition to Gladstone Hospital.

Hours before, Boyne Island paramedics treated a female teenager for a marine sting.

The teenager presented to the Boyne Island Queensland Ambulance Service station at 7.15pm with reports of a marine sting.

It was unclear what type of marine animal it was.

She was also taken to Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition.

It follows a series of stinger hospitalisations in recent days including six suspected irukandji stings on K’Gari in the space of a week, several of which requiring evacuation by the rescue helicopter.

Stinger season generally runs from late September to early May.
