Two people are being treated by ambulance officers after a crash on the Bruce Hwy, south of Rockhampton, on Monday afternoon.

Two cars have ended up in an embankment after a crash on the Bruce Highway, south of Rockhampton, on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident under the Darumbal Bridge, roughly halfway between the Yeppen roundabout and the turn-off to the Burnett Highway from the Bruce Highway about 4.20pm.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the southbound lane of the Bruce Highway was closed just before 5pm to allow the vehicles to be removed.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said two adults — a man and woman — had self-extricated and were being assessed.

Four ambulances responded to the incident, with police and firefighting crews also attending.
