In just six weeks of being on the market, 15 units of Kele Property Group’s latest development have already sold.

The $7.8 million 19-unit development, PennyCove, on Pennycuick Street, The Range, was given the first tick of approval by Rockhampton Regional Council this week.

Speaking to the approval, John Kele said they will move through to the next steps of gaining operational and building works approvals.

It is hoped construction will start on ground around October with a timeline build of 44 weeks.

The development comprises of 17 three-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units.

The units are being sold through Pat O’Driscoll Real Estate and only went on realestate.com six weeks ago.

Agent Janece Jones said they are now 70 per cent sold with four units left to go.

The buyers have been a mix of demographics with the majority being young professional singles, some other older couples and one young family.

She said she wasn’t surprised the units have been selling so well, considering the offering and Kele’s well respected reputation.

The units are for sale from $385,000 and include landscaped gardens, stone bench tops, good sized bedrooms, lockable car garages and the option of a private pool.

The 7500m2 development site is located on 99 and 101 Pennycuick Street and overlooks the 8th hole of the Rockhampton Golf Course.

“Just the style, the outdoor living style, the colour scheme, the modern features, the position,” Ms Jones said.

“It’s really private, minutes to the airport, close to the hospitals, grammar schools … all of those great places are in close distance.”

This is the third unit development for KPG with their completed projects including the Savon Villas on Upper Dawson Road and Garden Villas on Ann Street.

“You look at the quality of work and the gardens, anyone knows he does a really good quality product,” Ms Jones said.

“He has a good name for attention to detail and is quite fussy what he puts on there.”

The council approval noted the development will expand on the range of housing opportunities available to the local community within an established residential zone.

The development was subject to a public notification period for a few weeks during June and no submissions were received.

KPG are also in the midst of another project, Cocobrew Express, which will a sister site to Cocobrew restaurant, bar and accommodation venue on William Street.

The $1.35m drive-through coffee shop is located on Albert Street across from Browne Park.

Over the last few months the dilapidated houses on the site have been removed and construction by Hutchinsons Builders has begun.

The build is expected to take 10 weeks and is planned to be operational by around November.

There are a number of other unit developments underway in the city with Griffin Builder’s Loft on the Lane on Archer Street and Gallery stage two on the riverbank on Victoria Parade by Wayne Riddell and Andrew Beaumont.

Work is expected to begin on Loft, a 10-storey, 31-unit apartment building, in October with sales also reported to be going very well.

Gallery stage two is a $10 million development with eight-storeys comprising of 14 three-bedroom units and one-four bedroom penthouse unit.

The construction of this is expected to take 12 months with a builder to be appointed soon.

Plans were lodged with Livingstone Shire Council last month for a new two-storey, 18 unit apartment block on Queen Street in Yeppoon, on the former site of the Anglican Church.

Movement is also progressing on the $30 million Mint Apartments project near The Strand Hotel on the Yeppoon foreshore.

The development was approved in early 2020 for a seven storey 45-unit complex with food and drink outlets and retail shops on the ground level, two levels of car parking, top-level penthouses and a rooftop pool deck and tennis court.
