Craig Carrington charged with arson and attempted fraud two months after his Berserker home burnt down

The registered owner of a property in North Rockhampton is awaiting a court date after his house burnt down last year.
Mr Carrington is the registered owner of 162 Bedford Street, Berserker, which he bought in January 2019 for $169,999.
The Morning Bulletin reported a structure fire at the property on August 8, 2020 around 10.30am.
Upon fire crews arrivals, the home was well engulfed and smoke was billowing from the roof.
Craig Paul Carrington was charged by police in November 2020 with arson and attempted fraud.
He fronted Rockhampton Magistrates Court back in May and the matter has since been moved up to District Court with a new date yet to be set.
Matters involving amounts between $150,000 and $750,000 are moved to District Court and matters above $750,000 are heard in Supreme Court.
Mr Carrington has not yet entered a guilty plea.
The home was destroyed and has since been cleared from the land.
A deconstruction permit application was submitted by Mr Carrington to Rockhampton Regional Council and was approved in December 2020.
The 5592m2 block of land has council and engineering approval to raise the block .25m above the Q100 flood level.
