Jeremy Marou and Jamie Boon have stepped down from their involvement with The Goat Bar and Café as the business partners focus on strengthening their live music visions.
The pair became involved with the business last year, with the aim of capitalising on Jeremy’s expertise with music following the success of his ARIA Award-winning career with Busby Marou.
They announced last month the partnership the pair created, Maroon Events, would be stepping away from The Goat.
Jeremy thanked the team at The Goat for their dedication and said it was great to be able to work with them.
“We both grew up here and we’re pretty proud of Rockhampton and what it has to offer,” Jeremy said.
“We have also given our support to some emerging music event entrepreneurs as they look to make a name for themselves in the future.”
For now, Maroon Events will continue to operate as an events business as it explores more options in the future.
“We can work with One Hot Night which is owned by Busby Marou... we’ll continue to look to grow live, local music and bring as many acts to the region as we can,” Jeremy said.
The Goat Café and Bar remains owned by two local persons and a Sydney-based investor who also owns the building.
Karl and Georgina Schamburg sold the venue in 2019 for a reported $3.175 million.
