More than $6000 has been raised for a Rockhampton man who is in an induced coma after he suffered multiple serious injuries when he came off his motorcycle while travelling in Emu Park last Wednesday.

Rhys Nelson, 27, was involved in a motorcycle crash on Hill Street on July 27 at 6.36pm.

According to Queensland Ambulance Service, paramedics, including critical care, transported Rhys to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious but stable condition with shoulder, abdominal and pelvic injuries.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the motorcycle struck a green Ergon Energy turret.

A GoFundMe campaign was started by Jasmine and Tiani Thomas on behalf of Rhys and had raised $6399 as of August 2.

According to campaign organiser Jasmine Thomas, Rhys was transported to Brisbane where he remained in a serious but stable condition.

“However, he is in an induced coma to help his body rest,” Ms Thomas shared in the GoFundMe campaign.

“Rhys is to undergo numerous surgeries over the coming days and, as you can imagine, has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

“The funds raised will help offset the costs of medical treatment and bills while Rhys is undergoing his recovery in Brisbane.

“We wish Rhys a speedy recovery during this challenging time.”

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
