Five people have been charged following a dramatic dawn police operation on New Year’s Day in Rockhampton.
Three of them, aged 15 and 16, have also been charged in relation to the ram-raiding of a Blackwater business hours before.
It will be alleged that early Sunday morning, a Mitsubishi Outlander was stolen from a Blackwater address.
The vehicle was later sighted by patrolling officers about 4.30am, with a tyre deflation device successfully deployed on the vehicle on the Capricornia Highway.
Officers tracked the vehicle to West Rockhampton, where they took five people into custody.
A 21-year-old Woorabinda man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and possess utensils that had been used.
He will next appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 23.
An 18-year-old Kawana man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was remanded in custody and will next appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 20.
Police will allege that three teenage boys, one aged 15 and two aged 16, involved in this incident also were involved in the break and enter robbery of Blackwater Sports at 2.20am Sunday.
They allegedly gained access to the Littlefield Street business, stealing several items of property and an amount of money before fleeing the scene.
The three boys have each been charged with enter dwelling and commit, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
They will face the Rockhampton Children’s Court.
