A man accused of attacking another with a machete in Central Queensland has been formally indicted in the supreme court.

A man accused of attacking another man with a machete in Central Queensland has been formally indicted in the supreme court.

Leonard Trevor Westwood, 53, allegedly assaulted another man on June 8, 2021, at a Singleton St address at Dysart.

According to police, a 52-year-old man received cuts to his head, face and chest as a result of the alleged attack and was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police allege the two men knew each other.

Mr Westwood is charged with one count each of unlawful wounding and wilful damage.

The two count indictment was handed up in the Rockhampton Supreme Court on December 14.

Mr Westwood is on bail on all charges.

Crown prosecutor Bianca Volling requested Mr Westwood’s indictment be transferred to Mackay District Court.

Ms Volling further informed the court the proceedings were suspended pursuant to the Mental Health Act.

Justice Graeme Crow ordered Mr Westwood’s matters be transferred to Mackay District Court.
