Eight people have been released from hospital following a two-car smash in Rockhampton City on Sunday.
The incident happened just before 1pm at the intersection of Derby and Denison streets, Rockhampton.
Gracemere resident Daniel Niven, who was driving when he witnessed the crash, said he saw a Toyota Hilux “airborne” before it landed on its side.
“The first thing I could see was a little kid’s arm hanging out the window and that arm wasn’t moving and I was scared,” Mr Niven said.
“Get them out of the car, that’s the first thing I thought of doing.”
Mr Niven raced to assist the occupants, including the children, out of the overturned vehicle.
He said paramedics were on scene quickly.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said eight people - four adults and four children - were taken to Rockhampton Hospital, all in stable conditions.
“(There were) no serious injuries that I’m aware of,” the QAS spokeswoman said.
A spokeswoman for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service said on Tuesday that all eight people had been discharged from hospital.
Mr Niven said he was familiar with the intersection, describing it as a “bad intersection”.
“I don’t know why but people just don’t stop here for some reason - it just happens way too much,” he said.
“I don’t know how no-one got hurt (in this crash) - very lucky.”
It has been a busy day for Rockhampton’s emergency services crews who were earlier called to a serious motorbike and truck crash at Kabra where one person was in a critical condition.
