A man has been injured in a quad rollover at a Central Queensland property on Tuesday morning, with emergency services called to the scene.

Initial reports suggest a man, understood to be aged in his 50s, has suffered shoulder and back injuries after a quad bike rolled on him at a property off the Leichhardt Highway at Banana.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the scene about 11am, however they had not yet reached the scene and the man’s condition was unknown.

Quad bike safety has been a hot topic in Queensland for many years, with the state’s Office of Industrial Relations last year floating new rules in a discussion paper.

According to the agency’s discussion paper, there were 64 quad bike deaths across Australia between 2017 and 2021 – with 22 of them confirmed to be work-related.

This included 20 fatalities in Queensland – the most of any jurisdiction in Australia over this period – with seven deaths that were determined to be work-related.
