Police today announced a $250,000 reward in relation to the cold case investigation of Jason Guise, whose body was located in a Wynnum sewerage pit in 2019.

At the time, police released CCTV images of Jason’s last movements, including at a 7/11 convenience store, and at a Rosies food van on April 21, 2019.

His last confirmed sighting was around 7.20pm that same day, when CCTV footage captured him riding a bicycle past the Waterloo Hotel on Berrima Street Wynnum.

Police believe Jason died shortly afterwards, and have always maintained the death is suspicious.

Acting Detective Inspector Mark Mooney of the Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch today announced the $250,000 reward for anyone who helps bring prosecution to Jason’s killers.

He called on the community to help police bring those responsible for Jason’s death before the court and give his family answers.

“A $250,000 reward is now in place for information that may lead to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for Jason’s disappearance,” Acting Det Insp Mooney said.

“It is particularly important to highlight the significance of the matter of indemnity offered along with the $250,000 reward.”

Acting Det Insp Mooney labelled the acts “cowardly,” as he vowed to not give up on the investigation.

“The community expects these cowardly acts to be fully investigated and those offenders responsible to be brought to justice, no matter how long it takes.

“Jason’s family and friends deserve to know what happened to their son, brother and friend and we urge anyone who may have any information in relation to this matter to come forward.”

Anyone with information, or who was involved in the crime before, during or after Jason’s death is urged to come forward.

“Any person who was involved in the crime but did not commit the crime who comes forward and speaks with police, is eligible for this indemnity from prosecution. Please take the time to consider this offer carefully.”

In addition to the increased reward, which remains at the Police Commissioner’s discretion, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
