When a Brisbane man wanted to propose, he made a photo album and one the last page was a photo of their dog Dougie with a sign around his neck saying, “Will you marry dad?”

These newly weds had planned an epic honeymoon to Canada and the US, but when they found out they were expecting twins a rethink was in order.
How our engagement party suddenly became a wedding
Thunderstorm almost ruins wedding day
Layne Sutton and Jason Holland, of Holland Park, in Brisbane’s south, instead opted for a relaxing week at the luxurious Pullman Sea Temple Resort and Spa in Port Douglas, north of Cairns.
The trip followed a marquee wedding for 90 guests at Victoria Park Golf Complex.
The reception had a soft colour scheme, with blush linen table napkins made by Layne’s “Nanny” and white, green and blush floral arrangements.
Layne’s father made the couple’s ceremony arbour from timber restored from their home.
The couple’s identical twin boys are due early 2020.
How did Jason propose?
He planned a full day of special activities that reflected our first dates. It started off at Oxford 152 in Bulimba where we had our first date — Jason even putting on the shirt he had worn. The day ended at the Pullman hotel where Jason had made a photo album with pictures from an overseas trip we had just taken. The last page being a photo of our dog Dougie with a sign around his neck saying, “Will you marry dad?”

What made this uniquely your wedding?
We wanted our ceremony and vows to reflect our love and deep admiration for each other, and then the rest of the day to be lots of fun and dancing — it was all that and more.
Special memories?
Those special moments after the ceremony with just Jase and I having our photos taken together.
Funny moments?
My uncle drove me, my dad and sister in the bridal car. We were staying only 5 minutes drive from Victoria Park but neither my uncle or dad knew the directions. We went up a wrong street which was a dead end.
Best Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Go with your gut and heart and don’t do things just because people say you have to. There are no rules, it is your wedding.
