YouGov poll reveals what Queenslanders really think about Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

An exclusive Courier-Mail YouGov poll reveals what Queenslanders really think about Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk nine years into the role.

How Brisbane voters are feeling

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is viewed by Queenslanders as “out of touch” after nine years in the role and almost half of the state says she is not working hard on the key issues that matter.

Ms Palaszczuk, seeking a fourth election victory in October 2024, is increasingly viewed as being removed from ordinary Queenslanders.

When asked if she was out of touch, 55 per cent of respondents agreed while 26 per cent disagreed and 19 per cent were unsure.

Some 54 per cent of voters say Ms Palaszczuk, after almost nine years in power, has run out of ideas for Queensland – while 23 per cent disagree.

Almost half, 46 per cent, disagree with the notion the Premier is “working hard to tackle key issues facing Queensland” and 34 per cent say she is.

With a margin of 49-29 per cent, respondents believe the Premier enjoys red carpet events at the expense of working hard for Queenslanders.

Voters are split on whether Ms Palaszczuk remains Labor’s best chance at winning the next election, with 34 per cent agreeing she is and 35 per cent disagreeing – with 31 per cent unsure.

In positive news for Ms Palaszczuk, 44 per cent of people say “overall, she has been a good Premier”, while 37 per cent disagree.

When asked to describe the Premier in one word, 39 per cent of respondents chose either “not good, disappointing, incompetent or poor performance”.

On the contrary, 29 per cent chose “does a good job, competent, committed or leader”.

Eight per cent said she had the wrong priorities, was selfish, showboating or arrogant

Ms Palaszczuk’s refusal to follow Peter Beattie and anoint a successor could also create headaches for Labor.

A staggering 61 per cent of respondents said replacing Ms Palaszczuk would “make no difference” to their likelihood of voting Labor.

Just 15 per cent said they would be more likely to vote Labor if she was replaced and 10 per cent were less likely.

Some 14 per cent of respondents were unsure.
