Annastacia Palaszczuk is no longer Queensland’s preferred Premier for the first time and her performance rating is worse than Anna Bligh and Campbell Newman.
The poll, conducted by YouGov for The Courier-Mail, presents the worst result for the Premier since she took office in 2015 and shows Labor is on the path towards a bruising defeat at next year’s election.
It reveals the LNP has extended its two-party lead over Labor to 52-48 per cent – putting about a dozen seats at risk if an election was held today, just shy of the 13 it needs to win government.
But the finding that will send shockwaves through Labor is that Ms Palaszczuk’s net satisfaction rating is now negative 20 – the equal worst ever result in the history of YouGov’s polling for The Courier-Mail.

In August 2014, then-premier Campbell Newman also polled the same net result – with 56 per cent of people saying they were dissatisfied with his performance, and 36 per cent saying they were comfortable with how he was going.
In this poll, 52 per cent of respondents were dissatisfied with Ms Palaszczuk’s performance as premier, while just 32 per cent think she is doing a good job.
This is also the first poll during her tenure where Ms Palaszczuk, previously considered its best asset and strongest campaigner, is no longer preferred Premier – for the first time since she took office in 2015.
Opposition Leader David Crisafulli leads Ms Palaszczuk as the person Queenslanders want in the top job by a margin of 37-35 per cent.
And twice as many uncommitted voters are turning to Mr Crisafulli rather than the Premier.
When we last polled, in early April, 40 per cent of respondents were uncommitted on who would be the better premier.
That is now 28 per cent, with two in three people opting for Mr Crisafulli over Ms Palaszczuk when they decide on who they prefer.
In February last year, Ms Palaszczuk led Mr Crisafulli as preferred Premier 46-25.
Leading into the 2020 election Ms Palaszczuk held a 48-22 lead over Ms Frecklington as preferred Premier.
Ms Palaszczuk’s standing on this measure is now worse than both Campbell Newman (who was actually ahead 45-40) and Anna Bligh (who trailed 43-50) before their respective electoral losses.
Mr Newman’s worst approval rating while premier was 42 per cent in August 2014.
Ms Bligh’s worst result was 38 per cent in August 2011.
On a two-party vote, support for Labor is strongest among women – while men favour the LNP.
Labor’s primary vote has remained at 33 per cent since April, but the LNP has jumped two points to 41 per cent – meaning it is now in an election-winning position.
The LNP boost comes courtesy of a fall in support for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation.
The Greens’ primary vote continues to hold at 13 per cent, where it has sat since December 2022.
It is up, however, on the 9.5 per cent recorded during the 2020 election when it won South Brisbane – with LNP preferences – off Labor warrior Jackie Trad.
That Greens’ statewide vote could cause concern for Labor in its inner-city seats of McConnel and Cooper, held by Education Minister Grace Grace and first-term MP Jonty Bush respectively.
Just 7 per cent of voters are undecided now what political party they would support, compared to 10 per cent in the April poll.
