No back-to-school blues for 2021 Brisbane Preppies
While drop off procedures differed among schools the smiles on the faces of Brisbane’s 2021 Prep cohort were equally wide this morning for their very first day of school.

Thousands of kids today started back school as families said goodbye to prep students for their first day.
Families today participated in different drop off scenarios due to COVID, however parents of prep students were allowed to walk in their children to the classroom to set up.
Mater Dei Catholic Primary School in Ashgrove welcomed 29 prep students this morning.
Principal Donna Jones said it was an honour to welcome students and families to the school.
“We really want these children to be innovative and creative because when they graduate in 2032 its going to be a very different year and a different world,” she said.
“So while we still need these children to be literate and numerate, they’ve got to be adaptable and flexible and continue to learn all their lives and be problem solvers and collaborators and work in teams but also be self directed in their learning too.
“We do that from prep...this is the way these guys are going to be communicating.
“We really want to inspire our children a love of learning.”
Sarah Ramsey said her son Fred, 4, was excited to start the new school year.
“I think he’s most excited to learn to write and read – we’re very excited,” she said.
Prep teacher Dina Nona said the year would represent a fresh beginning for the year.
