PREP students at Undurba State School are loving being back in the playground with their friends after weeks of “boring” home schooling.
Deputy Principal Jenny Simpson said the students had settled beautifully back into their learning and even most excited to see their teachers and teacher aids again.
We asked the preppies what it was like in lockdown and what they loved about returning to school. This is how they responded.
Ashleen said she liked coming back to school to see her friends.
“It was a bit boring learning at home because there were no friends there,” she said. ”I only had three toys and I missed my friends. My parents told me the virus can make you sick if you touch something and you touch your face. We still have to wash our hands a lot at school because there is a little bit more virus.”
Jeramiah was one of the few who said he liked learning at home: “I like reading. I to read books at home too.”
Harry was keen to get back to school playing with friends: “We had to stay home because of the coronavirus. I like getting to use the iPads at school and playing with my friends.”
Teddy said he was happy to be back: “I like doing drawing”.
Jayla said: “At home we had to do work on the computer and read books. I like coming back and writing so I know how to spell.”
Mia said: “I love writing about Little Red Riding hood and all the fairy tales”.
Yajuhsriyaa was happy to be back as well: “I love to play outside with friends”.
Ms Simpson said the students will have a special day at the end of term to make up for the cancellation of the annual Under 8s celebration.
“We will have a beautiful big fairy tale day because our whole unit of work has been around understanding fairy tales and the characters,” she said.
“We’re all going to dress up and have lots of fun activities.”
