Mackay Cricket Association: Senior and Junior Teams of the Week in Round 2

Shaun Austin steered Souths to a memorable victory over Norths in round 2 of the 1st Grade DBCT Poole Cup.

It was a quieter week of senior cricket action in the Mackay Cricket Association this weekend, with only first grade taking to the field.

Seconds, thirds, and fourths will all be back in action next weekend.

The Norths v Souths clash saw two centuries notched by Chris Day and Shaun Austin respectively, with an inspired Souths batting display seeing them chase down Norths’ 214 in just 24.4 overs.

Reigning DBCT Poole Cup premiers Magpies flexed their muscle, skittling Brothers for just 80 with an even spread of contributors, and chasing it down with just six wickets in hand.

While Pioneer Valley held off Walkerston to claim a 22-run victory.

In the junior ranks, the under-15B clash between Magpies White and Walkerston provided two spectacular knocks.

Jade Gersch steered Magpies to 137 with an unbeaten 98, before Ayden Loader blasted 86 off just 27 balls in reply to see Walkerston chase it down with nine wickets to spare.
