In what has been described as an excellent year for high-end sales in Mackay, 50 homes sold for $1 million or more in the region in 2022.

Topping the list for Mackay is a four bedroom home on two-hectares of land at 94 Glendaragh Road, Glenella, which sold for $2.7 million on April 27, 2022.

In the sugar city itself, 38 homes sold for $1 million or more in 2022, which was one more than the 37 sales in 2021.

Pinpoint Property owner Allison Cunningham said 2022 was an excellent year for buyers seeking homes in the top-end bracket, due to the availability of stock and more options in luxury homes coming to market.

“Over the past few years we have seen quite a few invest into building gorgeous properties across Mackay, now providing homes of high standard to buyers in the region,” Ms Cunningham said.

“Due to demand and lower stock levels across the rest of the residential market in the past two years, prices have naturally inflated across all price bands – lifting that higher end market yet again.

“With the majority of Mackay’s homes selling in the sub $550,000 bracket, there is an excitement for those with a bit of extra cash to secure the home of their dreams when it finally comes to market.

“With a lack of new homes in the building sector, established property looks to remain strong for the time being, keeping pressure on prices overall.”
