An arrest warrant was issued for a young woman pinched in a police operation targeting meth trafficking in Central Queensland, while charges against another are now in the Supreme Court.
Police operation Tango Gismo carried out in 2021 targeted the supply of ice and marijuana in the Central Highlands and ended with 20 people charged with 117 offences.
Here’s the latest on those charged.
Mollie May Carter
Mollie May Carter, 20, is charged with trafficking meth, and supplying meth and marijuana and was granted bail in late 2021.
In the latest development to the case, a warrant has now been issued for her arrest following a failure to appear at a schedule court date.
Jodie Kym Edwards
Matters against Moranbah business owner Jodie Kym Edwards, who police will allege was a main drug supplier in Moranbah, are now in the Supreme Court after she was formally indicted on December 12.
She is charged with drug trafficking between July 14 and November 13, 2021 in the Moranbah region, aggravated meth possession on May 18, 2021 and possessing dangerous drugs on November 12, 2021.
Her case is adjourned to January 31 in Mackay Supreme Court. She is on bail.
Jay William Politanski
Moranbah diesel mechanic Jay William Politanski was also arrested and charged as part of a sweeping police operation.
The 35-year-old father is facing charges including trafficking and supplying dangerous drugs, aggravated drug possession of about 34 grams of suspected meth, and possessing cash suspected of being drug proceeds.
His matters have been committed to the Supreme Court.
Hollie Maree Eggleston-Burton
Hollie Maree Eggleston-Burton is facing a number of charges including aggravated meth possession and supplying dangerous drugs.
Some charges against the 38-year-old have been committed to the Supreme Court.
Gabrielle Eden Lee
Gabrielle Eden Lee, 24, is charged with offences including supplying and possessing dangerous drugs. Some matters against her have also been committed to the higher court.
Sentenced
During the widespread police operations, search warrants were carried out with the assistance of Moranbah, Clermont and Nebo police, Mackay Tactical Crime Squad, specialist drug detection dogs and officers from other agencies.
Joanne May Eckert was charged with a range of offences as a result, including supplying and possessing dangerous drugs. She was jailed for six months, which was wholly suspended, and ordered to complete 15 months probation.
Leah Elizabeth Stringer was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, for which she was fined $500. She was also jailed for unrelated offences.
