Rescue helicopter at Clarke Creek after motorbike and kangaroo collide

A rescue helicopter crew is on scene treating a motorbike rider in a serious condition after he and a kangaroo collided south of Mackay.

A rescue helicopter crew is on scene in Clarke Creek after a motorbike rider and kangaroo collided early Tuesday.

A police spokesman said the crash happened on Marlborough Sarina Rd, about 20km south of Clarke Creek State School, at 5.45am.

The RACQ CQ helicopter was tasked to the crash as police, paramedics and fire crews rushed to the scene.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man in his 50s was being assessed for head, shoulder, chest and arm injuries.

The spokesman said the man was in a serious but stable condition.

It is understood the collision happened close to where a triple-fatal crash claimed the life of two-year-old Izaya Jasperson in November.
