A Mackay region man must provide a DNA sample after being charged with rape, indecent treatment of a child under 16, and multiple sexual assaults.
Paul Ian Coatchin, 73, faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday for offences allegedly committed between last year and this year.
The charges include indecent treatment of a child under 16, attempt to commit rape, rape and six counts of sexual assault.
Mr Cotchin had not entered pleas for any of the nine charges.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Linden Pollard said they had to serve Mr Coatchin via the court with an order to undergo a forensic procedure to collect DNA as he was not remanded in custody.
Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan said Mr Coatchin would need to seek legal advice regarding the DNA sample before the next court mention on March 19.
Legal Aid Queensland solicitor Rosemary Varley advised the court she would keep in contact with Mr Coatchin, and Ms Hartigan enlarged his bail.
