Sakti Ramadhan Dalizar faces Mackay Supreme Court for LSD, marijuana possession

He was found with enough drugs in envelopes and plastic bags to send him straight to the supreme court but it was his activities after being caught that have been his saving grace.

Police officers have discovered more than a kilogram of marijuana as well as 369 tabs of LSD in envelopes and plastic bags during a raid of a Moranbah home.

Sakti Ramadhan Dalizar faced Mackay Supreme Court on Wednesday where it was heard the search of his address on December 18, 2022 further revealed a mobile phone that showed the then 26 year old planned to sell a “substantial proportion” of the LSD and 1.089kg of marijuana for commercial reward.

Lawyer Robert Beamish, instructed by McKays Solicitors, said Dalizar had since resumed taking medication for anxiety and depression, which he had since a teenager, and he had returned to working for a scrap metal company.

Mr Beamish said Dalizar’s employment involved work at the mines which required him to take regular drug tests that had returned negative results.

“He’s sorry and remorseful for involving himself in cannabis and LSD and your honour will note that he’s previously been of good character,” Mr Beamish said.

“He’s had no convictions and he’s someone who’s been in full employment since leaving school.”

Dalizar, now 28, pleaded guilty to eight counts of supplying a dangerous drug, two counts of aggravated drug possession, and one count of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

Justice David North said his formerly clean criminal history worked in his favour, adding Dalizar’s early plea and cooperation with authorities evidenced his remorse and “an open mind to attempt realistic rehabilitation”.

Justice North said the maximum penalty for Dalizar’s possession of LSD was 25 years jail, with the marijuana carrying a maximum of 20 years, both indicating the “seriousness of the offending”.

He said the court must take “stringent” measures to deter such serious crime as it was “obvious to anyone of intelligence” that drugs were associated with crime.

For the supply of dangerous drugs and possession of the mobile phone, Dalizar was convicted but not further punished.

For the aggravated drug possession, he was sentenced to three months jail with an immediate parole release, and convictions were recorded.

“Your interests and the community’s interests would be served by some monitoring from hereon in to see to it that your rehabilitation stays on track,” Justice North told Dalizar.
