“Police were called to Mackay Marina in relation to a 60-year-old man behaving erratically,” she said.
“Unfortunately on arrival, the male was located in the water.
“Police retrieved him from the water and commenced CPR, however he was pronounced deceased by QAS a short time later.
“It’s not being treated as suspicious, however it will be investigated.”
Senior Sergeant Mansfield said the man was only believed to have been in the water for a “short time”.
A Mackay Harbour resident said they were in the middle of breakfast when they heard the sirens at around 9am.
“There were heaps of sirens … there were two police and ambos,” they said
“We just had a look out and saw police running down the wharf and there we like two what we thought marina workers.”
