Emergency services were called into action after a Whitsunday sailor lost consciousness and ran his yacht aground.
The 71-year-old man suffered a medical episode near Hook Island, resulting in a mayday call and a four-hour rescue.
RACQ CQ Rescue crewmen found the interstate sailor trapped under furniture that had become loose as a result of the crash.
He was secured on a stretcher before being winched up into the rescue helicopter.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, helped to secure the sailor before the rescue chopper flew him to Mackay Base Hospital with neck and back pain.
Difficult terrain and weather conditions made the rescue difficult, with wind gusts recorded between 55 and 75km/h.
