A Kuttabul man has tragically died in a freak accident after he was struck by his own vehicle towing a caravan.
The 73-year-old had been travelling in the Pioneer Valley when the terrible incident occurred.
Initial investigations suggest the man had been travelling on Pinnacle Station Rd in Mia Mia Forest when he has stopped the vehicle to remove something from the roadway.
The vehicle towing a caravan has then rolled forward and hit the man resulting in his death.
He was alone at the time and a passing motorist found him about 8am Sunday, but it is believed the incident occurred sometime before 7.30am.
Police are investigating the tragedy and will prepare a report for the coroner.
It’s the eighth horror crash on the state’s roads this weekend.
On Sunday evening, a man had been flown to hospital in a critical condition and two other people rushed to a different hospital after a horse truck and car collided near the Sunshine Coast.
Early Sunday morning, two men in their 30s died and two more people were taken to hospital after a car crashed into a train track in Bundaberg.
In the same region, a female motorbike rider in her 20s suffered serious injuries just over 50kms west of Bundaberg on Sunday.
Further south, a 19-year-old man was declared dead on Sunday morning after his car plunged into a tree on Mary Valley Road at Imbil near Gympie.
On Saturday, a 52-year-old motorcyclist died after a head-on crash with a ute at Takura on the Fraser Coast.
That same day, a 21-year-old man was also discovered dead in his ute which had rolled into a creek bed in the South Burnett near Nanango.
South of Brisbane, in Logan, a woman in her 30s died after a fiery crash about 1pm Saturday.
