A mother of six who is charged with murdering her youngest child via reckless indifference has been told the court is not interested in her “rubbish” after she attempted to deny her name.
“There is no (Ms) Polsoni present,” Jessica Blinda Polsoni told Magistrate Damien Dwyer on Friday.
Mr Dwyer had brought on the case early regarding orders he had made in relation to her co-accused, Adam Joseph Hanbury.
Both are charged with one count of murder over the death of their two-year-old daughter Diana Hanbury in 2022.
Police allege Diana, who is the youngest of six children, was already dead when Ms Hanbury took her to Mackay Base Hospital about 8pm December 29.
They further allege the young girl had been unwell in the days before she was taken to the emergency department where hospital staff tried to resuscitate her and that Mr and Ms Hanbury, who moved to Mackay in 2020, neglected to get her appropriate medical attention in the lead up to her death.
Mr Dwyer told Ms Polsoni, who appeared via videolink, he had made separate directions in relation to Mr Hanbury before asking if she had a solicitor.
“Who are you speaking to?” Ms Polsoni asked.
“You … whoever you are,” Mr Dwyer said.
“My name is Jessica Hanbury,” she said.
“I’m not interested in that rubbish anymore … you’re facing a murder charge, and you need some assistance,” Mr Dwyer said.
“Now, you can go on with all that stuff as much as you like, and I don’t care whether you have a solicitor or whether you don’t.
“It’s a matter for you. But you have a very serious charge which brings with it life in prison.”
Matters against Ms Polsoni have been adjourned to marry up with those against Mr Hanbury in August.
