An arrest warrant has been issued against a father charged over a devastating crash south of Mackay that claimed three lives including his two-year-old son.
Police alleged the little boy Izaya Jasperson was not properly restrained and others in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts when the tragedy occurred on Marlborough Sarina Rd at Clarke Creek on November 11, 2021.
Javarn Roy Doyle allegedly had drugs in his system as he was behind the wheel, travelling from Rockhampton to Nebo with his partner Kira Jasperson, their son and two others, when the car left the road near Grave Gully Bridge and collided with a culvert about 10.15pm.
It is understood the vehicle flipped and rolled in a muddy ditch pinning some passengers under the vehicle, about 168km south of Mackay.
Paramedics had to wade through mud amid heavy rain to reach the heavily damaged car.
Izaya and a 59-year-old Park Avenue woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old Rockhampton man tragically died from his injuries on the way to hospital.
Ms Jasperson was taken to Rockhampton Hospital with serious head, facial and pelvic injuries from which she later recovered.
At the time the fatal crash brought the Mackay district’s road toll to 14 for 2021.
Mr Doyle has since been charged with nine offences stemming from the crash.
These include four counts of dangerous driving causing death or grievous bodily harm while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.
The 21 year old is also charged with one count each of driver failed to ensure child over six months but under four years was in child restraint, wearing of approved seat belts by passengers 16 years or older and offence of driving while relevant drug is present in blood or saliva as the holder of a learner, probationary or provisional license.
Mr Doyle is further charged with driving without a licence while demerit point suspended and light vehicle must not be driven on a road if defective.
The matters were first mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 6, 2021 and he was remanded in custody overnight and released on bail the following day.
Mr Doyle’s bail conditions include residing at an address in Rockhampton and reporting to police three times a week.
His case was listed in Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday but he did not appear.
An arrest warrant was issued and is expected to be released.
