A police raid on a Grasstree Beach property was “the gift that keeps on giving” for some victims of property crime.
On June 8 police executed a search on the property uncovering a haven of stolen items.
Sarina police Sergeant Mick Jones said crews found four quad bikes, three motorbikes, two boxed trailers, a 20-foot ski boat and tools.
Sergeant Jones said the raid was the “gift that keeps on giving” and was happy to be able to reunite so many stolen items with their owners.
But because a lot of the goods were stolen years ago, returning them to their rightful owners could prove difficult.
Sergeant Jones said one of the motorbikes had first been reported stolen from Brisbane in 2011.
“The man who actually owns it lives in New Zealand now,” Sergeant Jones said.
“The ski boat was taken in January 2016.”
Sergeant Jones said this could make it more difficult to track down owners of stolen items.
“Thieves can drastically modify VIN numbers,” he said.
“Something people can do is subtly engrave a mark on their bikes and tools, something that they can recognise and explain to police if they have to.”
A 43-year-old woman, a 34-year-old man and a 48-year-old man have been charged with property and drug offences.
Police are continuing a search for a second 48-year-old man they believe could be the ringleader.
