The case against an alleged ice addict accused of plying an underage teen with drugs and raping her has been hit with significant delays linked to the state’s beleaguered forensics testing unit.

Jonathan David Dillon is currently on strict bail conditions as the confronting case against him proceeds through the courts.

The 41-year-old is charged with three counts of rape and aggravated supply of dangerous drugs to a minor 16 years or more, as well as possessing dangerous drugs and used drug items.

It is alleged the offending occurred in August 2023 at North Mackay.

Anyone convicted of rape faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

When the charges were briefly mentioned on Tuesday, the prosecution applied for a lengthy adjournment regarding outstanding material in the brief of evidence.

The court heard delays could stretch from 12 to 24 months.

Legal Aid Queensland solicitor Ancilla Seethya, for Mr Dillon, said the application was not opposed.

The case was adjourned to a date in December and Mr Dillon’s appearance was excused.
