Detectives have busted open an alleged meth network across Mackay and Whitsundays, arresting 27 people on 90 charges following rolling raids over two days.
Drugs including meth, cocaine, GHB and marijuana were seized as well as cash, a number of firearms and weapons including rifles, handguns and tasers as part of Operation Victor Firefight.
The police sting, which began in June 2023, targeted an syndicate allegedly involved in the distribution of methylamphetamines within the Mackay Whitsunday police district.
The operation closed on January 18 and 19, 2024 as police executed about 17 search warrants across the regions with officers pulled from the two regions, Crime Intelligence Command and Specialist Services Group.
The investigation used overt and covert investigation methods including the use warrants issued under the Telecommunications Interception Act 2009 (QLD).
As part of the investigation 27 people were arrested on 90 charges, which included trafficking, supply and possession of dangerous drugs, unlawful possessions of firearms and possession of stolen property.
