A Northern Beaches man accused of posing as a yoga instructor and sexually assaulting at least two women can be named.

Matters against Robert Gordon Ussher have been committed to the Mackay District Court.

Police allege the 29 year old entered a pilates and yoga studio and sexually assaulted two women under the guise of pretending to instruct them in some yoga poses.

He is charged with three counts of sexual assault, four counts of common assault and one count of enter premises and commit an indictable offence in the Northern Beaches area.

When Mr Ussher was arrested on May 19, 2022 and he was initially charged with sexual assault against the two women.

It is now alleged his offending was against up to six women.

It is alleged the three counts of sexual assault for which he is charged occurred on April 21 and May 11, 2022.

He is also charged with three counts of common assault and one count of enter premises and commit an indictable offence between December 2021 and May 2022.

Mr Ussher is further charged with another common assault from an unknown date in 2019.

Under Queensland law anyone charged with a prescribed sexual offence, which includes rape, attempted rape, assault with intent to commit rape and sexual assault, cannot be identified until matters have been committed to the district court and only then if it will not identify any alleged victims.

His case went through a registry committal which was completed in January 2023 for three counts of sexual assault and enter premises, which have been sent to the district court.

The Office of the Department of Public Prosecutions has six months to present an indictment formally charging Mr Ussher on some or all of those charges.

The common assault charges remain listed in Mackay Magistrates Court for a date in March.
