Only months after opening a Mackay restaurant specialising in hand-wrapped dumplings has been forced to shut up shop.
Munch Munch Dumplings opened its doors at 98 Victoria St in mid-2022 and had amassed a foodie following with its Asian cuisine.
This had included dumplings, fried chicken bites, bao buns and other Korean delicacies.
But just days before Christmas, restaurant owners Kai and Ling posted to Facebook they were closing.
“We sadly announce that Munch Munch Dumpling is closed permanently as of today due to unforeseen family reasons,” they posted.
“Many of you could be shocked by this sudden news as you might see we are quite busy most of time.
“But when family matters (we have a little 4 years old Autism non-verbal boy) come up, that becomes our highest priority.
“We have been great appreciating all your support in the past.
“And we truly feel the support from the community.”
Kai and Ling thanked their customers and said they were “really sorry” to have made the “sudden decision”.
The restaurant had been linked in with the MenuLog delivery service and as recently as August, was advertising for positions.
Customer Beth Swanerton said “family must come first”.
“Please know you were my fav place in Mackay, best dumplings and bao. All the best,” Ms Swanerton commented on Munch Munch’s Facebook post.
Tori Leem echoed her sentiment commenting, “If you decide to reopen in the future we will support you”.
The now-closed restaurant was also formerly home to Imperial Indian Cuisine.
