Details emerge of Moranbah crashed car and United service station robbery probe

Police have clarified a chain of events in Moranbah involving a car crash and a man accused of robbing a service station.

Police have clarified a chain of events in Moranbah involving an unmarked police car patrolling the area for a robbery and a driver crashing into a parked vehicle.

Initially it was believed a man in his 30s was attempting to flee police when he allegedly crashed into a parked vehicle on Belyando Avenue and Laver Street on Sunday night.

Senior Sergeant Nigel Dalton said the police car was unmarked and plain clothed officers were patrolling the area after a reported robbery unrelated to the car crash.

The man in his 30s was taken to hospital with minor injuries about 10.15pm.

Police patrols continued in connection to the alleged robbery of the Mills Avenue service station which happened earlier in the night about 8.30pm.

A police statement said a 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with enter premises with intent, robbery, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was arrested about 4am Sunday, and appeared in the Emerald Magistrates Court on Monday with the matter adjourned.

INITIAL SUNDAY 11AM: A man has been taken to hospital after he allegedly crashed into a parked car in an attempt to evade police.

A police spokesman said police spotted the man in his 30s driving at speed about 10.15pm Saturday in Moranbah.

The spokesman said police did a U-turn to catch up with the man who allegedly attempted to flee.

While police were turning, the man allegedly crashed into a parked car on Belyando Avenue and Laver Street.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a crew was called to assess the man for minor injuries.

The spokeswoman said he was taken to Moranbah Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are investigating the incident.
