A driver has fled after their vehicle allegedly struck a teenager on the Bruce Highway.

A police spokeswoman said the 14-year-old boy was hit at the intersection of Perry Street and Nebo Road in West Mackay about 8pm.

She said the driver drove away leaving the boy injured with a black eye and scratches.

The boy was reported to have no significant bleeding.

A Queensland Ambulance Spokesman said a male from that area had been taken to Mackay Base Hospital.
