Memorial service to be held for North Mackay’s Patrick Roots
Family and friends are paying tribute to a rider who tragically died in a horror traffic incident on a regional bridge, remembering him as a genuine guy with a heart of gold.

Loved ones will celebrate the life of Patrick Roots who was described as “one of the best” and who “brightened every room he walked in”.
The 27 year old tragically died in a horror traffic incident at Pleystowe on January 10.
His family and friends are still coming to grips their loss.
“Patrick Roots you will be missed so deeply, you had a heart of gold, we still can’t believe it,” one mourner wrote.
Patrick had been riding a motorcycle as part of a group on Pleystowe Connection Rd bridge when he and a trailer that had been attached to a vehicle travelling north collided just after 1.40pm.
The other riders and members of the public came to his aid but sadly he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Pleystowe Connection Rd was closed for several hours as police investigated the tragedy.
“He will be so missed by so many. One of the best,” one mourner wrote on social media after the tragic death.
“Fly high Rootsy,” a friend wrote in a tribute to the fallen North Mackay man.
Another said he “brightened every room he walked in”.
“Pat is a perfect example of a genuinely kind person,” another wrote.
Patrick, described as a “really kind and upstanding many” will be farewelled on Friday by everyone who loved and knew him in a moving service at New Life Church.
