A man who suffered chest injuries in a vehicle rollover south of Proserpine before midday managed to free himself, according to a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services officer.

Emergency services were called to a single vehicle accident at Midge Point Rd, Bloomsbury, one hour north of Mackay, at 11.30am.

QFES Acting Captain Chris Harvey said the car rolled multiple times, crashing in the middle of the road.

Acting Captain Harvey said the driver freed himself from the vehicle and he appeared to be in “a great deal of pain”.

A QAS spokesman said paramedics administered on-site treatment for chest wounds to the injured adult male driver.

They said no other vehicles were involved in the accident and no one else was injured.

Fire crews removed the vehicle from the road by attaching a manual wire winch to a nearby tree, also described as the turfer technique.
