Mackay traffic crashes: Emergency crews respond to multiple incidents
A Mackay teen has avoided serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle outside her high school the day before her graduation, as emergency crews are kept busy with multiple traffic crashes.

A Mackay teen has avoided serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle outside her high school the day before her graduation.
The collision occurred about 10.20am Thursday on Milton St.
Witness Sally Johnston, who lives opposite Mackay State High School, said the vehicle involved was not immediately able to stop after colliding with the 18-year-old girl.
It is understood it was her second last day of high school and she would be graduating on Friday.
Ms Johnston said she brought towels for the girl to rest on until paramedics arrived on scene.
“She could have been killed,” Ms Johnston said.
The teen was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition with leg injuries.
It is understood police spoke to the driver and investigations are ongoing.
It has been a busy morning for Mackay region emergency crews.
Earlier about 9.20am a cement truck crashed into a power pole in the Pioneer Valley.
The incident occurred along Gorge Rd, Finch Hatton and only resulted in minor injuries to the driver, who is in a stable condition.
An Ergon Energy crew was called to repair the damaged power lines.
Barely 30 minutes later at 9.52am a Toyota Yaris launched into a small tree on Brisbane St, near the Victoria St roundabout.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the 65-year-old driver suffered no serious injuries.
Fire crews were also called to all scenes.
