A cow and car have collided on a major Queensland road with two people taken to hospital.

A car has collided with a cow on the Bruce Highway in St Lawrence, south of Mackay

A cow and car have collided on a major Queensland road on Sunday night with two people taken to hospital.

The crash, which took place at 6:48pm on the Bruce Highway near St Lawrence, occurred when a cow made its way onto the road before being struck by the car.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics assessed the two occupants of the vehicle before they were taken in a stable condition to Mackay Hospital.

The condition of the cow was not known.
