Mackay Regional Council is about to spend $400,000 on upgrading the Mirani No.3 reservoir.

The ground-level reservoir, located on the Mirani-Bolden Road, supplies water to the town.

The impact to residents is expected to be minimal with some possibly experiencing low water pressure during works, council said.

Mayor Greg Williamson said the refurbishment would extend the reservoir’s lifespan.

“We are spending more than $400,000 on these works to the external face and roof of the Mirani No.3 reservoir to repair cracks and water leaks,” he said.

“This will eliminate the need to build a new reservoir in the near future saving ratepayers money.”

The works are set to begin next week (mid-November) and are due to finish at the end of March 2023.

Work will take place Mondays to Saturdays from 6.30am to 6.30pm.

Drivers using Mirani-Boldon Road are asked to be cautious with trucks entering and exiting the site. Traffic signs will be in place.
