Emergency services raced to a small beach community north of Mackay after a plane crashed into the water on Sunday morning.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Conway in the Whitsundays at 11.20am.
It is understood the plane crashed at the mouth of the Proserpine River and the two occupants of the light aircraft were located safe and well on nearby Conway Beach.
A police spokeswoman said no one was injured in the crash and police investigations into the incident were ongoing.
Steph Watts works at the nearby George’s Diner and said it was common for “ultralight” aircraft to land on Conway Beach and then for pilots and passengers to come up for “brekky”.
Just an hour before the crash, Ms Watts said a pilot had landed a plane on the beach and had breakfast at her diner, but she could not say if it was the same person or aircraft caught up in the crash.
