That question is sure to be answered today when Australia’s most powerful axemen battle it out in the Ekka national treefelling competition.
Today’s woodchop highlight event is the Open class 325mm Treefelling Final which kicks off at 2pm inside the Woodchop arena.

Strength will be put to the ultimate test as each axeman shimmies their way to the top of the tree to be the first to chop off the thick 325mm and be crowned Australia’s treefelling champion.
It’s shaped up to be one of the most exciting live competitions to grace the Ekka woodchop stage, attracting the most competitors and crowds.
Competitors have journeyed across the country to attend the national treefelling championship exclusively hosted by the Ekka for more than a century.
Those who fear they might miss out on all the burly glory can catch the action via the Courier-Mail livestream at 2pm today.
We will also be livestreaming the iconic Grand Parade from 4.30pm today.
More than 500 of the Ekka’s best animals will be on show in the iconic Grand Parade.
It’s the parade of champions, from the tiny Grand Champion Fish of Show to the huge Grand Champion Stud Bull, along with ribbon-winning goats, beef cattle, dairy cattle, cats, dogs, horses and alpacas.
An extraordinary sight to see, the Grand Parade also features winners from the Flower and Garden and Arts and Cookery sections.
