The Queensland Times asked you to name the best childcare worker in Ipswich and Springfield, and a favourite has emerged.
Holly Mackay from Cribb Street Childcare topped our poll as the clear winner.
Childcare isn’t just a job for Ms Mackay, but a lifelong passion.
“I live it, love it, breathe it,” she said.
“I have since I was a little girl.”
Ms Mackay said the highlight of working in early childhood education is providing a foundation for children’s futures.
“I love being able to be a part of someone’s journey,” she said.
Ms Mackay said she felt a great sense of achievement and pride for her win.
“I put in a lot of hard yards to get here … It’s something I’ve been working for for a very long time.”
Earlier this year, Ms Mackay took on the role of director at Cribb Street Childcare.
Now seeing proof of her efforts paying off, Ms Mackay said her win is an emotional one.
“It’s lovely to be recognised,” she said, “ … particularly because I took on the role at a time when the world was so uncertain”.
Established in 1976, Cribb Street Childcare is a not-for-profit organisation based in Sadlier’s Crossing.
Robyn Smith, a co-worker of Ms Mackay’s, believes the win will be a huge boost for the centre.
“It’ll be a great benefit for our centre and hopefully her confidence as well,” she said.
