A teenager is dead and two others have been injured after a serious crash which forced the closure of a main road west of Brisbane.

Emergency crews, including police, fire and ambulance services, were called to Ipswich Boonah Rd at Purga about 9.20am on Friday after a three-vehicle crash.

Initial police investigations indicate a Toyota Camry was travelling east on Ipswich Boonah Rd when it collided with two vehicles travelling west.

The 19-year-old driver of the Camry was declared dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated for minor injuries and were taken to hospital for assessment.

The crash forced the closure of Ipswich Boonah Rd for several hours.

The Forensic Crash Unit is still investigating the circumstance of the crash.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage are urged to contact police.
