After the clock struck 12 on January 1, 2022, a Lowood family welcomed a very special boy into the world.
Baby Kai Alexander Stokes was born at 12.40am on 1 January 2022, creating a New Year’s Day his proud parents Cheri Eastham and Alex Stokes would never forget.
Little Kai was born at Ipswich Hospital and weighed 2668g while his body stretched 48cm long.
The busy maternity ward at Ipswich Hospital delivered 2,764 babies in 2021, up from 2578 in 2020, which is roughly seven births a day.
The mother of Ipswich’s first baby born in 2020, Sermone Warn congratulated the new parents on social media.
“Congratulations to you all. We celebrated our little one’s 2nd birthday today… (they’re” such precious little souls,” Mrs Warn said.
Ms Warm welcomed her miracle New Year’s baby Mason Leigh Warn at 3.30am on January 1, 14 days earlier than expected.
“My waters broke at 11.20pm, then he arrived at 3.30am. We could hear partying, it was awesome. It’s amazing that he was the first born for the 20s, it’s our first Queensland baby too,” Ms Warn told the Queensland Times in 2021.
During Covid restrictions first-time parents Sabrina and Sabbir Ahmed welcomed their baby boy into the work at 2.09am after a daylong labour.
Despite being separated from loved ones during most of her pregnancy Mrs Ahmed was in high spirits with their year being ‘made’ just hours into the new and exciting chapter of their lives.
