Ipswich
Don't miss out on the headlines from Ipswich. Followed categories will be added to My News.
As the season draws to a close, The Queensland Times have compiled one last list of the Best and Fairest players from Friday night’s footy action.
Here we include the Ipswich Rugby League under 17 division 1, under 17 development and under 15 competitions.
Let’s see the boys who had a great performance with Ipswich junior rugby league almost wrapped up for the year.
Round 13 Best and Fairest
Springfield Panthers U17 Development
Keanu Woetai:
Keanu Woetai, one of Springfield’s back rowers, had a solid defensive game and ran with great intent, narrowly missing a try under the posts. This four-pointer was one he deserved.
His physicality on defense was also very impressive.
Seth Holland:
Holland played a similar style of game to Woetai in the centres, putting his own mark on the game. On one occasion, he made a great try saving tackle at the corner post.
August 5 fixture
Khafy Spencer
Left side winger Khafy Spencer, or Moth as he is known by friends, scored his team’s first try with great pace down his edge and then another off a great kick down field from halfback Eugene Peneto.
Moth’s magic gave Springfield the start they needed. In the end, the Panthers won 18-6 over the Brothers White team.
Lorenzo Lologa:
Lologa was another persistent Panther, powering through in the middle to help his team get the win on Friday night.
How? His gutsy hit ups in the middle and edge and tireless tackling efforts on whatever confronted him led the way for his team.
Brothers U15
Eddierota Fa’amausili
Fa’amausili was in full flight on Friday. Fierce, forceful and ferocious. The young prop scored twice on his team’s way to a 36-16 triumph over Norths.
Lowood Stags U17 Development
Kurtis Smith
Second rower Kurtis Smith had his prints all over Lowood’s 38-6 victory over Redbank on Friday.
Hard running and strong carries made way for a dominant display where he crossed not once but twice.
West End U17 Development
A team effort:
The halves Jaxon Pollard and Moloko Lapana controlled the game against Redbank from kick off, which allowed Man of the Match Jacob Bornen in the centre and Brenton Rohweder from fullback to run wild.
Bornen crossed over himself while Rohweder was damaging in the backline.

Misiuaita Tauiliili
A heated match between the West End Bulldogs and the Fassifern Bombers on Friday saw the Bulldogs run away winners 38-0 in the last game of the season.
Misiuaita Tauiliili, or Leevai to friends and family, went out with a big smile as one of the standouts.
He made a huge impact off the bench, lifting the Bulldogs to another level.
Eden McGurk-Johns
Eden McGurk-Johns was once again super impressive with his workhorse attitude.
He was rewarded—topping the tackle count and crashing over for a try.
Norths Tigers U15
Lyric Ruska
The hard running second rower ran some cracking lines and constantly broke the opposition line which led to a few line breaks. On top of that, his defence was unbeatable.
Jack Breuer
Breuer is a hard running second rower who played in the halves and led the team to come back in the second half. As captain, he really led from the front.
Coach John Ward is a big believer in Breuer. “He’s one to watch in the next few years as he has leadership values and that hard work and never give up attitude,” Ward said.
August 5 fixture
RJ Nagas:
Nagas had yet another really exciting game against the Brothers Blue team— constantly breaking the opposition’s line.
Nagas scored a run away try early in the game, and left a few more on the field.
Lyric Ruska:
The hard running second rower was again one of North’s best. Ruska just shows up for his team.
He split the Brothers defence early in the game with his strong runs and lifted in the second half with dominant defence.
Norths U17 Division 1
Larry Siala:
Siala continues to impress on the rugby league pitch. The St Edmund’s College Year 12 gets his fair share of game time representing his club, school and representative teams.
He scored a try in his team’s 38-12 victory over Brothers.
Earlier in the week he had a brilliant performance in his College’s First XIII jersey where he played the second half after a first half down the coast representing the Gold Coast Titans under-17 team.
Jacobi Shaw
Shaw is in the form of his life. He’s scoring tries for Norths while running riot in the Ipswich State High School Langer Reserve team.
He’s a try scorer in every meaning of the word. It doesn’t matter where or who he plays for. There is always a good chance Shaw gets over.
Jack Chandler
Chandler earned himself a double on Friday. From hooker, that’s a real effort.
At full strength, this is one strong team.
Stay tuned for in the coming weeks for our award winners.
