The owners of a puppy that was killed in an Ipswich park have shared their devastation at the loss of their family pet.

They alleged that an unidentified person was riding a motorbike in the park between Briggs and Warwick roads in Raceview, where use of motorised vehicles was prohibited.

In a post on Facebook, Darcy Hart said her mother had been walking on the footpath connecting the two roads on Monday afternoon, July 15, when the young dog was hit.

Ms Hart said her mother was in a leg brace from a grade 3 tear and was only out walking to give the dog some exercise.

She said the motorbike rider did not stop to help her mother after hitting the dog.

“I hope you know you have killed the kindest, most loving fluffy boy our family has ever known,” Ms Hart said.

“He was only a year old and you have absolutely devastated our family.

“On a more a positive note, thank you to the guy who helped my mum and carried our family dog until they could get him to the vet.

“You are so appreciated and your kindness has not gone unappreciated.”

Police said the incident had not been reported.

Commenters on the Facebook post said they reported a man multiple times for riding a motorbike in the park area who allegedly harassed pedestrians using the footpath.

“If it’s the same guy I’m thinking of who like to ride around and terrorise small children and dogs on the sidewalk and randomly rides out in front of cars doing wheelies, then I’ve definitely called the cops on him a time or two,” one commenter said.

Another who works near the Bremer State High School said they had regularly seen someone riding motorbikes in the area.
