Corey Jack Plowman: Raging roofer whipped woman in ‘abhorrent’ attack

A southeast Queensland roofer who whipped his ex-girlfriend during a “abhorrent” and “demeaning” attack left behind numerous marks on her body, a court has heard.

An Ipswich roofer who whipped his ex-girlfriend during a “abhorrent” and “demeaning” attack in Holmeview left behind numerous marks on her body, a court has heard.

Redbank Plains man Corey Jack Plowman, 29, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday to assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence), wilful damage (domestic violence offence) and driving without a licence SPER suspended.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Donna Kay said told the court Plowman allegedly whipped his ex-girlfriend, leaving her with “numerous marks” and damaged a TV during an altercation at an residence in Holmeview on October 3 last year.

Plowman’s lawyer told the court his client had been in a relationship with the aggrieved for about 18 months and the had been having some difficulties in their relationship for some time prior to the assault.

“On the occasion in question, there’s been a verbal argument that ensues after she’s come into his bedroom and woken him up,” he said.

“There were by this time sleeping in separate rooms. He does accept that he overreacted to the situation and that his behaviour was unacceptable.”

Magistrate Clare Kelly described the offending as “demeaning, outrageous behaviour”.

“I’ve seen the marks on the aggrieved, it is a most abhorrent act that you committed,” she said.

The court heard Plowman was also busted driving with licence that was SPER suspended on Kingston Rd, Waterford West on September 29 last year.

He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment suspended for a period of 18 months.

He was also put on a 18 month probation order and disqualified from driving for
