Police have commenced an investigation into a crash on a major highway west of Brisbane that saw two men rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash on the Ipswich Highway eastbound at Wacol at 11.50am after a collision between two vehicles.
The crash happened near the Centenary Motorway off-ramp.
A white Toyota Hilux utility was travelling east when it struck a concrete barrier before veering across four lanes of traffic.
The driver of the Hilux, a 57-year-old Birkdale man, and passenger, a 65-year-old Inala man, were taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
Queensland Ambulance had five crews on scene, including high acuity and critical care units.
Police reopened the Ipswich Motorway eastbound, around 1km short of exit 28, about 2.40pm.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing with police requesting anyone with dashcam to come forward.
