Brisbane teen charged over stolen car totalled in horror Ipswich crash

Two teenagers have stabilised after they were thrown from an allegedly stolen car during a horrific crash. They’ve spent a month fighting for their lives in hospital.

A boy and girl almost died after being critically injured in an allegedly stolen car crash at New Chum at Ipswich.

The pair suffered serious brain injuries and had to be placed in a coma.

After spending close to one month in a critical condition, a Queensland Children’s Hospital spokeswoman said the pair’s health had stabilised.

A 16-year-old Ferny Grove boy was charged with allegedly stealing the car that crashed.

Five teenagers 16 and under were in the car that was allegedly travelling over 100km/h on a dirt road at New Chum when the driver lost control of the car.

Four teens were thrown from the wreck during the crash.
Two other boys received minor injuries were released from hospital not long after the crash.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said investigations were continuing and more charges could be laid in the future.

“(The teen) was charged with two counts of unlawful use and one count of driving without a licence,” she said.

It is alleged a burglary occurred at an Oxley residence where the black SUV wagon was stolen in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, November 7.
