Police were on Tuesday still unable to publicly declare the cause of death of Gympie woman Sarah Brown, whose body was discovered in bushland at Victory Heights on Monday, a week after she went missing.

It was unknown how long she had been dead, but Sarah had left her Victory Heights home to go buy some wine seven days earlier, never returning.

Exactly what happened remains a tragic mystery, but her mother Janet Gardner was arriving in Gympie to visit her daughter the day she went missing and she said Sarah was looking forward to the visit.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said on Tuesday police were still awaiting the results of a post mortem on Sarah’s body, and it was not known how long that would take.

At 11am on Monday, police were called to Barton Road, which ends at the Victory Heights Trails, a swathe of bushland crisscrossed with walking and riding trails not far from where Sarah lived.

A crime scene was declared as officers worked to determine why she had died. QPS is now awaiting the outcome of a post mortem.

Sarah was listed as a missing person over the weekend after going missing last Monday.

Her mother pleaded via social media last week for anyone with information to come forward, but the devastating find was revealed on Monday afternoon.

“My beautiful daughter, Sarah was found an hour ago in Bushland in Gympie,” Ms Gardner wrote.

“She had passed away … please please no phone calls, please respect my heartbreak.”

Ms Gardner said she was very close to her daughter and spoke to her at least every second day.

“Her Facebook is dead, her messenger is dead,” she said before the devastating discovery.
